The Choroi Quinta Pentatonic recorder has been developed for children to support free playing. They have a distinctive singing sound character - more like a singing voice than an instrument.

The Pentatonic scale of 5 notes, is recommended in the younger years (up until approximately 8-9 years old). During these early years, the child lives in a simpler world, and the pentatonic scale, with 5 notes is the world the child naturally experiences. At around 8-9 years old, the senses and breathing of the child have developed sufficiently to work with the full diatonic scale.

Unlike ordinary recorders, the foundation for the tone is the free-flowing breath while the lips remain relaxed. The sound is achieved through relaxed natural breathing.

All Choroi recorders are designed for group and classroom playing. The tones join together to create a gentle harmony.
