Mercurius Australia attending WA Steiner Teachers' Day 2024

WA Steiner Teachers' Day 2024

As part of our ongoing support of Steiner and Waldorf Education in Australia, Mercurius Australia sponsors conferences and initiatives that support and help develop Steiner Education in Australia.

West Coast Steiner School hosted the 2024 WA Steiner Teachers' Day on September 20th. We were honoured to be one of the sponsors of the day and be invited to present on stage, introducing ourselves and discussing the significance of colour in our products and its connection to the harmony of the Goethe wheel. This year’s event attracted 230 participants.

The event unfolded smoothly, beginning with Welcome to Country, morning singing and movement, and our Mercurius introduction. This was followed by an engaging presentation by special guest speaker Dr. Tom Brunzell. His workshop was both entertaining and informative, focusing on creating an inclusive classroom environment for students with disabilities.

Throughout the day, teachers participated in a diverse range of workshops, including Woodwork, Tai Chi, Yoga, Felting, Pastel drawing, and Eurythmy, among others.

Our display table, situated on the veranda overlooking the courtyard, attracted many teachers. They eagerly expressed interest in our products, offered feedback, and shared ideas.

The topic of watercolour paint colours sparked considerable discussion. Teachers were pleased to learn that Stockmar plans to release a new Ultramarine Blue formula in 2025, matching the previous Ultramarine shade.

As the day concluded, we had the privilege of trying our hand at Pastel drawing under the guidance of the talented Mel. She demonstrated how to create drawings using pastel crayon shavings. The meditative process of layering colours helped us find inner balance and a sense of natural harmony.

The event was truly remarkable, providing us the opportunity to connect with educators from various Western Australian Steiner schools, including West Coast Steiner School, Perth Waldorf School, Silver Tree, Parkerville, Helena River, and Golden Hill. Despite the vast distance of over 2000km separating us, the Western Australian schools extended a warm and heartfelt welcome. This experience reinforced the notion that geographical distance pales in comparison to the strong bonds we have forged within our community.
